What does it mean to be selected
as a "Top 10 Couple"?
As a Top 10 Couple, you are competing against nine other couples for the top scholarship prize. You are challenged to earn votes during the voting period – June 18-July 26 – by promoting yourselves. In honor of the 10th anniversary of the Stuck at Prom Contest, all "Top 10 Couples" will receive scholarship prizes.
How do we become one of the "Top 10 Couples"?
A panel of judges selected by ShurTech Brands will select 10 finalist couples based on workmanship, originality, use of color, accessories and quantity of duct tape used.
How do we win a scholarship?
The "Top 10 Couples" will enter into an online public voting phase, which will last for six weeks:
- The voting phase begins on Friday, June 18, 2010.
- The voting phase ends on Monday, July 26, 2010.
- Couples are encouraged to earn as many votes as possible during the voting period – each week, the two finalist couples with the lowest number of valid, online votes will be eliminated from the voting phase.
What is a valid, online vote?
A valid, online vote is one cast by a legitimate email address. One vote per day per valid email address is allowed.
When will the eliminations occur?
Eliminations will occur based on the following schedule:
- First elimination: Wednesday, June 30, 2010
- Second elimination: Wednesday, July 7, 2010
- Third elimination: Wednesday, July 14, 2010
- Fourth elimination: Wednesday, July 21, 2010
- Announcement of first and second place winners: on or about July 28, 2010
How can we earn votes?
How you earn votes is up to you. Here are couple ideas to get you started:
- Get the word out! Start with your family, friends, schoolmates, co-workers, etc. Anyone with a valid email address can vote.
- Tell people to vote for you daily – each valid email address can log one vote per day!
- Talk to your local media. If you need assistance, please feel free to contact, or refer media to, our public relations partner, Laura Pierce, at (216) 373-8263 or lpierce@liggett.com.
- Try grassroots methods – ask for votes in your church bulletin, post a sign in your front yard, paint your car windows, post flyers on local bulletin boards and more.
- Use your online social networks to reach out to your family and friends. Blog about your experiences at prom, making your outfits and your quest for votes. Don’t forget to post some of your prom pics!
- The possibilities are endless – just be creative.
