Eligibility and Entry
What are the entry requirements? Each couple must submit:
- One high-resolution color photograph to be judged for the contest (professional or amateur) of the couple together in duct tape prom attire.
- Each individual's full name, address, telephone number, e-mail address (if applicable) and age/grade level, and the name of the closest major city to the individual's hometown.
- A Release Form signed by each individual and, if any entrant is a minor (under 18 years of age), that individual's parent or guardian.
- The name, address, and telephone number of the high school, or home school association, which is hosting the prom, and the date the prom was held.
- A release form signed by the photographer if the photo submitted is professional
Any entries that are incomplete will not be posted.
Do the couples have to be male/female?In the contest rules gender of the couple is not specified; therefore, the couple can be co-ed or the same gender.
I am home-schooled, can I still participate? The contest rules do allow for home-schooled students to enter the contest; they state, "each couple must attend a high school, home school association or other school-sanctioned prom held in the spring of 2010."
How do you submit your pictures?Submit your entries online at www.stuckatprom.com/enter-now. If you cannot scan your completed and signed release forms, you'll need to fax us copies at 440-937-7092.
You may send your photos, information and release forms via snail-mail, Priority Mail, UPS, or FedEx to:
Stuck at Prom Contest
ShurTech Brands, LLC
32150 Just Imagine Dr.
Avon, OH 44011-1355
Remember, you need to send in a release form for each of you. Anyone under 18 must also have a parent or guardian sign his or her release form.
Does the couple have to go to the same school? Each member of the couple does not have to attend the same school; however, the school hosting the prom will receive any winnings if the couple is chosen as a winner.
My school's prom is after your contest deadline, can I still enter? What if I go to a spring dance in duct tape attire? The contest rules state that "each couple must attend a high school, home school association or other school-sanctioned prom held in the spring of 2010". If your school's prom falls before or after the contest entry period, you will not be able to participate in the contest.
Can a high school graduate enter the contest? The contest rules state, "The Contest is open to legal residents of the United States and Canada, including the District of Columbia, but excluding Puerto Rico and the Province of Quebec, 14 years of age or older at the time of entry who are attending a high school prom in the spring of 2010," so as long as that person is attending a high school prom with a student from that school, they are eligible.
Is a copy of the prom ticket required with the submission? No, we do not require prom tickets or ticket stubs be sent in with your entry.
When is the deadline to enter? The contest ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET, June 7, 2010. Entries postmarked, or e-mailed, after June 7, 2010, will not be considered.
I'm a senior in high school, but my date is in college, can we still enter the prom contest?Yes you can, as long as both of you are over 14 years of age, and are attending a high school prom wearing duct tape, you are eligible to enter the "Stuck at Prom" contest.
Where can I get an application for this scholarship? There is no formal application for the "Stuck at Prom" scholarship. All the information you need is right here at www.stuckatprom.com. Simply read the rules, download the release form and have a duct tape prom photo taken, then send it all in. Remember, read the rules carefully, as incomplete materials will not be accepted.

Duct Tape
Does ShurTech Brands provide the duct tape for our outfits? No we do not. Participants will have to supply their own duct tape.
What colors of Duck Tape do you sell?Click here to go to our Duck Tape® Color Palette.
Where can I buy your Duck Tape?Click here for a list of retailers who sell Duck brand duct tape or click here to shop our online store.
Do we have to use Duck brand duct tape? There is nothing in the rules stating that a particular brand of duct tape be used in the making of your prom gear; however, we do think our Duck Tape is the best!
Can we cover existing clothes with duct tape, or do we have to make a duct tape outfit from scratch? You can do either, or you may choose to just accessorize.
Does the outfit have to be made entirely out of duct tape? No, the entire outfit does not have to be 100% duct tape. However, if you look at past winners you will see that full duct tape attire was a plus.
Can we use colored duct tape and other decorations? Yes you may, remember originality and use of color are part of the final judging criteria.
Do both of us have to be dressed in duct tape, or can just one of us be?The contest rules state, "Contest participants must enter as a couple," so both members have to wear duct tape.
Do we actually have to wear the outfits to prom? While we cannot physically verify all entrants' participation at prom, this is a scholarship opportunity and we hope that those participating respect our "honor system" approach to accepting entries.
Do I get the dress back if I'm a winner? If you are chosen as a winning couple, the contest rules state you must, "provide Sponsor with the winning attire via pre-paid overnight courier within Seven (7) days of receipt of those documents or prize may be forfeited. Noncompliance with this time period or failure to provide Sponsor with the attire may result in disqualification and prize forfeiture." You do not get the prom clothing returned to you.
How long do we have to stay in the duct tape outfits? We impose no time limit on how long duct tape prom attire must be worn.
I want to paint/add glitter/etc... to my duct tape prom outfit, is that OK?Absolutely! The more creative the entries, the better! You can decorate and accessorize your duct tape outfit any way you want; however, we know from experience that some paints have a hard time sticking to duct tape, so you may want to do some test swatches first before you tackle an entire outfit.
How may rolls of duct tape will I need to complete my outfit? The number of rolls per outfit will vary based on the design you chose to create, so it could 10 rolls, 1000 rolls or anywhere in between!!
