Need to decide what size cardboard boxes are right for certain items? Check out this guide on how to choose the right box for all of your moving, storage and shipping needs.

1. Small Boxes

Average Size: 6 in. x 6 in. x 6 in., 12 in. x 12 in. x 10.5 in.

Use: Small, easy to carry boxes are designed for small, but heavy items like books or small kitchen utensils or silverware.

2. Medium Boxes

Average Size: 14 in. x 14 in. x 14 in., 16 in. x 16 in. x 15 in.

Use: Medium boxes can be used for pots and pans, toys, non-perishable foods (cans & jars) and small appliances.

3. Large Boxes

Average Size: 18 in. x 18 in. x 24 in.

Use: Larger, square boxes work great for items like linens, towels, larger toys or lampshades. More rectangular boxes can be used for more lightweight, bulky items like pillows, blankets and large lampshades.

4. Wardrobe Boxes

Average Size: 24 in. x 24 in. x 34 in.

Use: These large boxes have a sturdy metal bar for hanging heavier clothes and the durability adds extra protection for your clothes when they travel to your new home during a move.

Make sure to check the product specifications of the boxes before you pack them and use extra products like Bubble Wrap® brand cushioning to help protect your things whether you’re moving, storing or shipping.
