Inspiration
I wanted to stick to an abstract art theme, but also connect current events and mixed media within the dress to add to the originality and creativity of the dress. Since june is pride month, I incorporate the pride flag colors and the top graphic has the letter P enlarged, with the equals sign beside it on the bottom. The pictures represent equality amongst all genders. The Blue and pink, as well as the pink and pink tape lined on the equals sign represents equality amongst genders, and celebrates the diversity of all of us. The added rainbow tape on the top and bottom symbolizes the diverse group of people in our nation, and also ads a modern contemporary abstract twist to the design. I made straight cuts to the tape to look like multi colored pixels from a far, this represents social media. The rainbow lines look like the dress is pixelated, or taken from a TV. This adds to the contemporary feel of the dress, while the added rhinestone studded fabric to the ends adds to the futuristic theme. I like science and technology, and the colors also make google’s main colors of green, red yellow and green. The grey backdrop makes the dress look like I am a true robot, and the added stack bracelets / shoulder cuffs made from duck tape rolls add to the futuristic flair with the metallic look.
